Dye with tea

Post by Purple_Monkfish on Thu Feb 05, 2015 8:18 pm

Yes, you can use tea or coffee to dye a Makie

Pokfil has this to say:

I've tried 5 different teas - not just soaking but actually boiling them in a pot for 10 mins!!

PG tips- Gorgeous brownish tan Cinammon colour- would love my Cosma doll to be this colour
Coffee - Instant Dowe Eberts - Darkish brown with a bit of a yellowish hue
Rooibos Tea- almost a yellowish caucasion color- very light didn't keep much colour
Cranberry Raspberry Tea- Its pink so thought maybe turn it pink? HA not likely- just a hint of pink
Green Tea- Just a slight yellowish Hue

It appears that the caffiene is the dye factor here (as the ones without didn't leave any colouring) Well I have proved one point at least that drinking the Non - caffienated teas are better for your teeth in regards to staining LOL

Hi, thanks so much for all the info, it's very helpful. I'm wondering, is the dye process irreversible?

As far as I know, dye is not reversible, but dying with Dylon can maybe be toned down with magic eraser.

Thank you. I was thinking maybe we could sand it off? I think I wont try this method then as I'm scared of ruining her, I just don't trust myself to make her as I envision her to be.

Sanding off the dye would be possible, but so much work. Maybe you should see about picking up some spare parts to try dying? It's worth contacting support to see about if there are any they could sell you.

That's a great idea. I'll look into that if I ever feel brave enough to go though with dying. Smile

Some sodas contain caffeine, I wonder what you'd get if you tried boiling the parts in Pepsi or Dr. Pepper?......

Besides a sticky Makie of course! Laughing Wink

Seriously though, I think Dr. Pepper is a very pretty color, I wonder if you would get the same color in a lighter shade?
