Ever-expanding wardrobe.

Post by jupiternames on Fri Feb 20, 2015 3:41 am

I've managed to throw together a couple of tops and skirts, including an apple skirt, a chemistry/polymer themed top, and I've finally managed to finish Lizzie's Sherlock skirt that I started last summer.

Very stylish, lucky makies. Great job on the skirts, Nala really likes them and she is now nagging me for one.  Surprised I love the little mustache necklace.

Thanks! Lizzie picked the mustache because, as she says, "it's a Watson mustache".

They look great - isn't it satisfying to make their wardrobes...of course they then keep asking for more!

I really haven't MADE anything for Sci yet, she mostly steals from all the Barbies!Smile Could you maybe post patterns if you made some? The skirts are adorable!

It's the best. I love how I can always manage to figure out who would wear what. Each girl has her own style.

I've got so many sewing projects for the Makies in the works; it's really silly. I'm hoping if I come clean about it, the pressure to finish stuff will get me moving on all those shirts and skirts.

Hmm. The Sherlock skirt didn't have any pattern, but I could write directions for it. The apple skirt is a modified version of a vintage skipper pattern. If I can find it, I'll definitely share.

The shirts that I made are the white and the "chemistry" print, and are adapted from the Makie Lab dress pattern. That is also easily explained.

Aww, thanks! It's from the Nancy Drew fabric collection. I really can't resist fabric. It's my weakness. I've a chess-print top in the works for Pepper.

Awesome! That would be great! I just attempted the jeans pattern with fleece fabric and it turned out great! Smile  Will try and post pics of it tomorrow!

Thanks, Makies23! I've been sewing for a while, but I'm pretty bad at finishing projects. I'm always failing to sew on snaps, failing to do the last few steps before snaps because I've become interested in a new sewing project.

It's a super useful skill, though, and I highly recommend the hobby.

Thanks! It's so true. If only they would pay me to just stay at home and sew for the Makies.

I made this "engineer" top for Nikki, who protests, "I'm not that kind of engineer!" I told her that she could either accept the top, or I'd give it to Pepper who may want to borrow the black leggings to go with it. Needless to say, Nikki has a new top.

I have a pretty bad fabric addiction. I'll be in San Diego for a bit next month and I know I'm going to be in my favorite quilting shop looking for fabric to take home. Like I've got room for more fabric!

Fabric does tend to accumulate, doesn't it! I think all craft supplies may be like that, I know someone who estimates she has 5 years worth of wool in her house. This doesn't stop her buying more.

It's just so easy to buy stuff because you like the look of it, even if you don't have a project in mind. You never know when you'll need it!

Do you mean the railroad symbol one? If so, it's a modified Blythe smock pattern.

Hi,
I'm new here (from Massachusetts) and I have a friend who is sewing clothes for me. We have gone sorta nuts. I already had bought a wooden armoire on Etsy but today I bought a matching bureau with three drawers because I have so many clothes now and more coming. (I also bought food that I want to store in the top drawer-sushi, ice cream, silverware, china platter). How is everyone storing clothes?

I have a box, basically it's just a fancy cardboard box in London theme. I store all the clothing and accessories in there. I really don't have much space for doll furniture, and lots of plans for buying dolls. You'll have to share pictures of your furniture.
